Our analysis is based on an organizational and representational guiding idea. Organizational because it defines hierarchies and locations; representational because materiality functions as a tectonic and poetic condition of the project. Sugar cane, with its strong presence in Central America, is technically translated through bamboo, while a composition of waves evokes the waters of the ocean. Cladding, flooring, furniture, ropes, and nets complete a language connected to nature and the sea.

LOBBY The design is inspired by the gabled roofs of Caribbean houses, incorporating beams, trusses, wooden shingles, skylights, and integrated vegetation. The reception and bar are conceived as part of an authentic Caribbean house.

CORRIDORS They connect the five buildings through neutral materials, natural woods, and light grays. Native vegetation and a suspended structure inspired by Barbados’ merchant ships accompany the circulation.

PREFERRED RECEPTION Art and vernacular culture define a more prominent and distinguished area. Historic merchant ships, stacked rocks, vegetation, and cane refer to Barbados’ port and pre-Columbian past.

LOBBY BAR Integrated into the lobby and oriented toward the pool and beach, it combines shingles, coral stone, and lush vegetation, reinforcing the connection with the natural surroundings.

COFFEE LOUNGE A wooden pergola, parasols reminiscent of shutters, and suspended reinterpretations of ships shape its identity. The flexible layout prioritizes the views.

COFFEE SHOP Caribbean shutters and ceramic brick coexist with a contemporary elliptical element. Browns, ochres, and natural tones connect past and present.

BUFFET Sugar cane functions as a poetic language and is technically resolved through bamboo. Native vegetation, green walls, and coral reinforce the connection with nature.

ASIAN RESTAURANT It is inspired by the beauty of imperfection, incompleteness, and subtle refinement. Wood treated with “Yakisugi,” soft pink tones, and reinterpreted references to Asian culture shape its identity.

BEACH RESTAURANT Materials associated with the sea, nautical ropes, and fishing nets connect the space with its coastal surroundings. Undulating bamboo structures reinterpret the movement of the ocean.

ITALIAN RESTAURANT Arches and domes recover references to Italian architecture, while brick, stone, wood, and textiles evoke a romantic Italy. Scaffolding and modular metal furniture introduce a contemporary interpretation.

SPORT BAR Rum and cricket inspire a gathering space linked to the identity of Barbados. Barrels, stills, and historic imagery define its colors and textures.

POOL BAR Sand, coral, and the sea breeze define the space. Suspended fabrics incorporate the wind into the experience, while sandy tones and perforated metal panels reinforce the relationship with the pool and the landscape.
