Antiche

Antiche Tentazioni is an ice cream shop with an Italian character, from its equipment and owners to the type of product it offers. This led us to use aesthetic devices that recall the Italian region of Tuscany. Its appearance is defined by elements in predominantly terracotta tones, the choice of cement tiles, the presence of traditional tiled roofs and, unmistakably, the weathered condition created by the passage of time.

Far from attempting to reproduce the old, we reconfigured it through a contemporary abstraction. To do so, we incorporated the arch, the ancient construction element par excellence and a defining feature of Italian architecture throughout history.

One of the elements we defined as part of its DNA is the broken cement tile, a symbol of the passage of time. Another is the colonial roof tile, reinterpreted in its use as a lighting support. The fixtures were specially designed around curves, roof tiles and vegetation.

The arches are finished in an aged-gold effect, while the surfaces they outline are covered with metal mesh featuring an arabesque pattern.

At night, the image of the project reinforces the arches as its essential feature. The metal mesh that becomes prominent along the counter once again recalls ancient Roman arches. All these elements with historical echoes have been playfully reinterpreted through a contemporary language.
